As a common recognition of the print works by these three artists, the following two points were raised: Although printmaking techniques and the thought process behind printmaking are adjacent to various forms of expression, they are rarely paused upon and observed closely; instead, they possess a transparency that simply passes through unnoticed.b. While printmaking exists within the context of "painting," which welcomes a close relationship between the artist and the work, works that embody printmaking thought possess a different objectivity and indirectness from design. These works have a strange quality of existing as tangible objects, yet without the artist's subjectivity or physicality being apparent.If we consider the transparency and translucency of printmaking, as described in point a, as a state where the work has substance but is "invisible," and then explore methods of expression within that, printmaking—due to its connection with various forms of expression—offers an overwhelming amount of choices.
